Join us making paper-helicopters with students at Providence Elementary School’s first annual STEAM Night! Providence ES is also looking for helpers at their booths–feel free to split time between our tables and theirs.

Girls in Science and Engineering Day April 6,  7:30 AM – 5:45 PM

We’ll be leading 5-6 sessions of students through two activities: Lego Balloon Cars and Ship the Chip.
Morning and afternoon activity leaders are needed.  Activity information will be sent to volunteers in advance.

Volunteer with FIRSTFIRST Robotics Competition Rocket City Regional

Huntsville, AL 35801Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.

Kilby VEXIQ Robotics Sponsorship
An all female 4th grade team from Kilby Laboratory School in Florence, AL, has earned a bid to the VEX Robotics World Competition in Dallas, Texas.

Society of American Military Engineers Camps
SAME Engineering and Construction Camps
Membership is NOT required by parent or student
Weeklong camp hosted by the military and led by military and engineering professionals open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
Camp cost ranges from $100 – $800.  Many posts will sponsor to offset students registration cost and/ or reimburse student travel costs to camp.
Hosted by military services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Air Force Academy), but is NOT to enlist/ increase interest for military service, with exception of the Air Force Academy.

SAME Engineering and Construction Camp Mentors Needed!
SAME Membership is NOT required.  Inquire if your company has a company membership.
Travel and transportation to the site will be covered in part. Meals and accommodation will be provided.
Roles: Mentor; Assistant Mentor/Squad Leader; Support Loggie; Staff (Instructor/ Judge/ Medical)Application required with agreement for a background investigation (Working with minors)One week at location, mentors requested to arrive a day early and depart after all students.
